Makoché is a new music company inspired by ancient traditions. The name Makoché (ma.ko.chay) comes from the Lakota word for the earth; maka. The word makoche refers to the land, all that is in it and the interdependency among all living things. The music presented by Makoché is influenced by Native American culture; both traditional and contemporary. Our recordings are produced in a world class, 3000 square foot, artist friendly recording facility we've built in the center of the Dakotas. One might think the Dakotas a remote isolated location, however, we feel that here one can still touch the center of all things and hear the voices of a rich and living culture.
